You know the feeling. It’s a sneaky feeling. It can creep up on you during a brainstorm session, a client meeting, even mid-project. You realize the way you are approaching the session/meeting/project is not syncing up with others. How could that be?
For many people, they consider different approaches, conflicts or choices made in both personal and professional lives as part of their ‘personality’. Sometimes we even call decisions we make ‘our gut instinct’. We can’t specifically say why, we just know. But what if we understood ‘why’ and were able to use that to empower ourselves and the way we work as a team?
Enter the Kolbe test. The Kolbe Index does not measure intelligence, personality or social style. It measures the instinctive ways you take action. How we all approach and solve problems is different. Understanding our instincts can help us thrive.
Pixel Dreams recently held a Friducation event with business communication coach Teresa Easler on Kolbe training. Teresa walked us through the 4 action modes that make up the Kolbe index.
These are: Fact Finder, Follow Thru, Quick Start and Implementor.
The Kolbe test provides a number ranging from 1-10 for each of the 4 actions. Each of these actions along with your corresponding number gives you insight to the instincts you have when solving a problem or tackling a task. Knowing your own Kolbe score and that of your team can help you assign and conquer projects faster and more efficiently.
At Pixel Dreams, we place emphasis on knowing each team member’s Kolbe index score, even including it in our handles online and in meetings. Recognizing our differences gives us strength through a diversity of perspectives and approaches.
Find out more about the Kolbe Index and how it’s insights of you and your team instincts can positively impact your team’s success and growth.
