On Friday August 1st 2014, the PDT would embark on an epic adventure to honour the graduation of their dear intern Sarah Eskandarpour. It seemed as though her time at PD had flown right by, and it was hard to come to terms with the fact that her internship had come to an end. However, in typical Pixel Dreams fashion, the team made the best of the occasion and planned out a day to celebrate all of her efforts.

The team gathered at PD HQ for a 9am briefing. As a collective, they decided Toronto Island’s Centreville would be the destination for the day. From there they built an itinerary, which obviously included squeezing in an episode of Star Trek, before heading out to run some crucial missions. After Star Trek, the team beamed into the PD mobile, and set warp speed to Loblaws & The Beer Store to pick up the essentials for an island getaway. Once errands were done, the team made their way down to the lakeshore where they would board a watercraft to take them to their final destination, Centreville.

Upon arrival, the team gathered to figure out where they would set up camp for the afternoon. It was key that the space supplied ample room for various starfleet athletics, such as; keep-ups & disk toss a.k.a. frisbee. The PDT set out to find this desired land. Within 5 mins, the team found their ideal location to set up camp. With a large patch of grass, a view of the beach, and amenities a stones throw away, they had found their own little piece of paradise.

By this time the team was famished and quite parched. Luckily PD’s Partner & Creative Director, Lannie started prepping what would be a delicious feast for the crew. Lannie is notorious for cheffing up tasty treats, and based off of this feast and past feasts, we should probably add Michelin Star Chef to her title! The team washed down the delicious grub with some ice cold tall boys and reflected on the last 3 months, sharing favourite memories and stories of Sarah’s time at PD.

The rest of the afternoon was spent playing keep-ups, frisbee, and walking along the beach. The team soaked up every minute of the lovely weather and relaxing environment. It was a nice change of pace. The sound of the waves rolling in, the warm breeze, and the sand between your toes was very therapeutic. The team couldn’t have picked a better day to go to the island. There’s already talks of their next journey back!

As the day came to an end, the PDT packed up their belongings and travelled back towards the watercraft. It was clear that the day was a success. Everyone seemed to have thoroughly enjoyed their stay on the island, as they left with bright smiles and sun kissed skin. It was the perfect way to spend the day.
