Andy Warhol: Revisited

Andy Warhol: Revisited

On Friday September 25th, Pixel Dreams invite you to join us experience Andy Warhol in Toronto!

Andy Warhol: Revisited is apparently the largest Warhol exhibition ever to come to Canada, at least since AGO’s Warhol / Supernova back in 2006. This statement sets high expectations as Andy Warhol is one of the hottest artists to influence western sensibilities, which still has impact today. For those who don’t know, he was an American artist who was a leading figure in pop art, exploring artistic celebrity culture and advertisement that flourished in the 1960s. Before his passing, he made tremendous strides in the art and design community, as a collaborator and trendsetter. As for Friducation, we will be exploring that apparent genius.

The exhibition is hosted by Revolver Gallery, an art gallery specializing exclusively in Andy Warhol prints and paintings, founded by Canadian entrepreneur Ron Rivlin. There will be a showcase of more than 120 original prints and paintings, most from Rivlin’s personal collection and a few from other owners. Included will be some of Warhol’s most famous pieces, such as Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor and Campbell’s Soup Cans series.

More than two decades after his death, Andy Warhol still has a great impact on the world of contemporary art and culture, yet everything we think we know about this pop artist only skims the surface in how much there is to know. The interactive gallery experience will help us understand his art in detail, and find some deeper appreciation for his abstract works. Many print designers are being inspired by this exhibition, with the amount of print pieces going to be on display. What Pixel Dreams be inspired to translated into digital mediums? An exciting question, indeed!

The team will be gathering at the venue at 3:00 pm. If you’re coming later, please contact one of the team members to let us know.
